Yucca Blooms

Yucca is the state flower, and these grew in our New Mexico yard, their white and pale lavender bells hanging from the rugged stalks. What I like is the contrast between the pure, almost translucent petals and the tough, fibrous plant that holds them—green blades, dried remnants, and the wiry threads that catch the light. The blooms stay delicate even as the surrounding structure looks weathered and strong. I painted them to keep that balance visible: the quiet white against the plant’s own rough endurance.
