Bouquet in the Bath

This bouquet came home from my husband like the others, but instead of the kitchen I set it in the guest bath, where the tall clear vase sat so naturally against the vintage yellow tiles and the warm orange wall. The mix of blue hydrangeas, pink and burgundy blooms, and small yellow flowers picked up the colors already in the room, turning an ordinary corner into something that felt considered. I painted it because the placement itself felt right—the flowers didn’t need rearranging or a formal still-life setup; they simply belonged where they were. The result is not so much about the bouquet itself but that quiet satisfaction of finding the exact spot where the light, the tiles, and the flowers all agreed.
