Joy at the Windowsill #1

This painting began with flowers my husband brought home for me to paint, set temporarily in the kitchen sink while I decided what to do with them. Below the windowsill they looked unexpectedly magical—orange gerberas, a deep red rose, pink zinnias, and white blooms crowded against the dark background, filling the room with scent and quiet creative possibility. The series grew from that ordinary moment of delay: the flowers waiting, the light falling across them, and the sudden sense that the simplest placement could already be enough. I wanted to hold onto the freshness of that unplanned arrangement before anything more deliberate happened.
