White Inspiration #3

Here the azaleas open more freely across the page, white petals edged with pale lavender and punctuated by yellow-orange centers and slender stamens. Green leaves and a few warmer buds push through the arrangement, giving the white blooms a little more room to breathe while still keeping them large and detailed. Like the others in the series, these came from the neighbor’s yard and seemed to insist on being painted bigger than life so their fine structure and luminous softness would not disappear. The painting stays close, trying to keep that fragile clarity intact.
